Can Hot Bubble Baths Really Burn Off Calories?
It sounds too good to be true. Can hot bubble baths really help burn off calories?
The thought of just slipping into a warm bubble bath - lying down, relaxing, and burning off calories at the same time. There is no way that this "form of exercise" can really help trim your waistline, all while taking it easy.
Well, you better get ready, because life is going to get a lot easier - at least your workout routine.
Studies have shown that taking hot baths can burn as many calories as a 30-minute walk. That's 130 calories - for those wondering the math.
During this study, researchers at the United Kingdom's Loughborough University monitored the blood sugar levels and the energy levels of 14 men while they rode an hour on the bike and then took an hour-long soak in a hot bath.
The water in the bath was heated to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. They found that the 14 men burned as many calories as a 30-minute walk.
Imagine, relaxing in a tub will not only feel great for your body, but will also help burn the same amount of calories as a short walk around your neighborhood.
Plus, there are additional benefits this hot bath will have on your body. A warm bath will help lower your blood sugar; the same effect exercise has on your body. It's also just great for your mental health.
That's a win-win in my book! So the next time you are trying to fit a bit more exercise in your day, consider taking a hot bubble bath.
