Every bubble bath brand has its story—and at TOA Waters, ours starts with a mighty river, a love for mythology, and a little dog named Atla.
Honoring My Roots: Why TOA Waters?
When I first dreamed up TOA Waters, I knew I wanted it to be more than just a luxury bath brand. I wanted it to stand for something bold. Something powerful. Something rooted in heritage. That’s why I named it after the Toa River—the mightiest river in Cuba. It’s a nod to my Cuban roots, but also a perfect symbol of everything I wanted the brand to embody: strength, vitality, rejuvenation, and flow.
Bold Baths for Everyone
Like water, TOA Waters is nourishing and hydrating. In addition, like the mighty Toa River, it’s strong and unapologetically bold. Our bubble baths are crafted for the bold bather—those who don’t fit in a box and who aren’t afraid to treat themselves, no matter who they are. Gender-neutral scents, premium ingredients, and a fierce belief that bubble baths are for everyone.
So when it came time to design our logo, I wanted something that felt just as layered and meaningful.
Enter Mythology: My Inspiration Obsession
Here’s where my mythology obsession comes in. I’ve always been fascinated by myths and legends—so much so that I took a Greek mythology course in college just for fun. I even name my pets after mythological figures. (My lightning-fast lizard? Hermes. My water-loving lab? Atla, the Norse goddess of water.) So, it felt only natural to lean into that world when creating a symbol for TOA Waters.
Designing a Creature That Embodies Strength and Serenity
I imagined a mythological creature that might live deep within the Toa River—mighty and magical. A creature that represented the duality of our brand: strength and serenity. I landed on this idea of a hybrid—half bull, half mermaid (or merman). The bull symbolizes raw strength and power, while the mer-creature embodies fluidity, mystery, and grace. Together, they represented exactly what TOA Waters is all about.
Oops—It’s Already a Thing (Sort Of)
Now, I thought I was creating something brand-new… until I realized the bull-headed creature already exists in mythology: the Minotaur. But hey—mine swims.
From Sketches to Symbolism: Bringing the Logo to Life
From there, I worked with a talented designer to bring this creature to life in a clean, modern, and eye-catching logo. We went back and forth, exploring different styles and inspirations I had collected. I even drew some ideas on paper to get the creative juices flowing.
Exploring Ideas: What Worked (and What Didn’t)
As we got deeper into the design process, the designer brought some really cool concepts to the table. We explored a range of styles—from abstract interpretations to more literal takes on the creature. Some designs felt too soft, others didn’t quite capture the strength I was going for. A few had beautiful details but lacked that bold, modern edge I envisioned for the brand. But that’s part of the creative journey—testing, tweaking, and reimagining until everything clicks. It was through this back-and-forth collaboration that we finally landed on a logo that felt just right: powerful, mythological, and uniquely TOA Waters.
The Final Design
The final design—the one you see today—brings together so many meaningful elements:
• The hybrid creature: Half bull, half mermaid, at the heart of the logo.
• The swirling circular lines: These represent the inside of a seashell—tying us back to the river and our bath-time sanctuary.
• The tail: Styled as a wave, it symbolizes movement, energy, and of course, water.
• The “O” in TOA: Last minute, I had the idea to give it a graphical twist—literally. We added a wave that swirls through it, just to make it pop and subtly reinforce the water theme.
A Mythical Mark for a Mighty Brand
The end result? A logo that feels as bold, mighty, and rejuvenating as the Toa River itself—and the perfect symbol for the bold bathers we serve every day.
So next time you see our logo, just remember: there’s a whole legend behind it. And like all good myths, it started with a spark of imagination, a love for storytelling, and maybe a bubble bath or two.
